Summer is Coming, and moms all around are looking for cheaper and more fun ways to entertain their kids. This blog talks about 10 such activities including things to do indoors when it pours and things to do outdoors, in a clear sky, when the sun is shining.
No 1:Grow a grass head monster
This is the sinister version of a normal grass head. Things you will need are a foot from the tights, sawdust, grass seed, elastic band and yogurt pot.
To start with, you will first need to fill the toe of your tights with grass seed. You will then need to add sawdust until you have reached the required size that fits nicely in your yogurt pot. Next, fasten the pot with the elastic band. Make the headstand on the yogurt pot with the grass on top. Stick as many eyes and teeth as you can, in the space provided. Top up the yogurt pot with some water. You can then decorate the pot for the body. Alternately, you can also grow an herb for the head instead of the grass, so that you can use them for cooking.
No 2:Make some salt dough
Salt dough can be so much more fun than play dough. To make salt dough, you will need Two cups of plain flour, one cup of table salt, one cup of water, one tablespoon of vegetable oil, one tablespoon of wallpaper waste and one tablespoon of lemon juice. Using this dough, you can make models, which will take about three to four hours to dry in a really low oven or around four days out in the open air. Once they are dried, they can be painted and varnished, which helps extend their life.
No 3:Play What am I?
You will need some animal playing cards and some cellotape to play this game. Children of all ages, old or young can play. You will need a minimum of two players. To start the game, choose an opponent and stick a card at random on their forehead. The opponent has to then guess what animal is on the card by asking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions. The game can be played using other types of cards such as letter or number cards.
No 4:Go pond dipping
Every child enjoys the outdoors and getting dirty. As a safety measure, make sure they’re wearing old clothes and trainers in case the edge of the pond is slippery. All you need is a fishing net, a container, a tea strainer and a magnifying glass in order to get a really good close up. Just make sure that the children wash their hands afterward.
No 5:Go on an adventure
Pick a town first, see what the town is offering and head out on a day trip. This coach trip will cost you less than the fuel for your car and is also much more fun and hassle-free for mom and dad.
No 6:Go to the beach as part of a day out
There’s no simpler way to have fun than to go on a picnic to the beach. Pack a bucket, spade and sun cream and off you go. This is a chance for mom and dad to relax, as the kids can find other kids on the beach.
No 7:Go crabbing
This may sound boring for an adult, but be rest assured, the kids will love it. For this activity, you will need a bucket, some string, and some bait, which cooked be raw meat or bacon. First, fill the bucket with sea water. Then, just attach the weight and the bait to the string, and feed it into the water, so that it goes all the way to the bottom. You then have to just wait for the catch. The fun, however, is in handling this dangerous beast and then the study of it after its capture. Just make sure you return the crab to its natural environment once you are done.
No 8:No Visit a working farm
A picnic to a working farm can be so much fun. Many such farms are now open to the public for a small fee. Enjoy the great outdoors and what’s more? The children can learn all about farming, feed the lambs, go on tractor rides and get a chance to milk the cows as well.
